| From gaffer to guru | Booklet 1

This first booklet in the series introduces the project, and explains the philosophy and methodology that motivated the three years of research. It also charts the development of the project from its original concept as a series of handbooks complete in itself, to a more ambitious structure -- an institute dedicated to enhancing teaching and training methodology in filmschools all over the world.

| In a class of their own | Booklet 2

This booklet records the inspiring experiences of professional filmmakers who have entered or returned to filmschools as teatchers at some time during their career. What have they got to give? What did they expect to find? What was the reality? In examining the contribution of celebrated filmakers to the world teaching and training, the spirit of learning is shown to be a two-way trade.

| Seats of learning | Booklet 3

What is a filmschool? We often talk about it as if it were well-defined entity, yet experience shows that no two schools are indentical. This booklet looks at the different structures and institutional connections by which, and through which, film schools operate. There is particular reference to ways these structures enhance or constrain the day-to-day life of teachers and students. The academy, the conservatoire and university? Each comes under scrutiny in this guide to arts in tertiary education.
