Course syllabus 2015 Nordic co-production

Pre-assignment completed at home country
Each participating student provides following information prior to the actual course days:

- Idea/synopsis (max one A4) for a true Nordic feature film. The idea should appeal to as many Nordic countries as possible and have the potential of being co-produced with at least one Nordic partner.

- Fact sheet containing information on the film industry in each country (national subsidy system, regional funds, number of cinemas, admissions, total amount of domestic films released and the market share, number of Nordic films releases and their admissions etc.)

- a DVD with a selection of films or clips by the participating student, max. 15 min. The DVDs should be watched before the course.

Course schedule

During the course, students will be working in groups of 4-5 persons of mixed nationality.

At the first meeting each student presents hers/his idea to the group (max. 10 minutes presentation). After the presentations, the group selects one project they believe has the strongest Nordic profile due to co-production and distribution. The project should have potential of being financed by the Nordic Film & TV Fund.

The group continues working together on the selected project. The work concludes with a presentation of the project to the other groups and the jury. The presentation consists of following items: Title, pitch, description, synopsis, budget estimate, financing plan, genre, schedule, cast & staff, distribution plan, sales arguments, target group, marketing, promotion, expected theatrical release.

The Jury of tutors will select a winning project and announce it at the closing dinner on the last evening.

AM: Students form working groups, preliminary discussions, students present their project within groups Lunch

AM: Groups announce and present the chosen project and discuss it with the tutors Lunch
