I felt I had to be here

Twenty-four-year-old Vera has committed suicide. When her family, the art community, friends, and former lovers gather to celebrate her, they are confronted with who she was, who they themselves are, and what they meant to her.

Directors statement

The absurdity found in the contrast between small, everyday, and large, existential dimensions in people's lives is something she constantly deals with. In this project, it is precisely in the vacuum after a young person's self-chosen death that she wants to investigate through the survivors and their different needs for different narratives of the truth. This with a warm, humorous and revealing look.
