Årets Nordic Talents hadde 15 pitcher, hvorav Filmskolen stilte utrolig sterkt med sine seks (!) kandidater.
Juryen, bestående av Amanda Kernell, Sigurjón Kjartansson, Eva Mulvad, Jussi Rantamäki og Tone Rønning ga special mention og
50.000 kroner til prosjektet 'Woman Walking' av Kerren Lumer-Klabbers og Emil Wahl.
Hovedprisen på 250.000 kroner gikk til Hazhir Ibrahimi, for prosjektet 'Kolbar'.
Hazhir Ibrahimi uttalte etter å ha blitt tildelt prisen:
"Det har vært en reise for meg, både tre fantastiske år på skolen og denne bra starten på Nordic Talents. Det kunne ikke vært bedre!
Dette var også et resultat av gode undervisninger/øvelser med pitch som jeg har fått på skolen, og ikke minst bra veiledning fra lærerne helt til jeg sendte inn søknad.
Tusen takk igjen!"
Nordic Talents er en pitchekonkurranse arrangert av Nordisk film & TV fond for avgangsstudenter fra de nordiske filmskolene. Konkurransen består i å presentere pitcher for en internasjonal jury med en langfilm, TV-serie, dokumentar eller en animasjonsfilm. Filmskolen gjorde også i 2018 rent bord da Fanny Ovesen vant hovedprisen på for prosjektet 'Laura', mens Brwa Vahabpour og Teresia Fant vant special mention for prosjektene 'Silence' og 'Stories from the Shower'.
I tillegg til de tre som vant priser var også Emilie Beck, Mads Lind Knudsen, Håvard Fandrem og Mohamed Chakiri nominert med sine pitcher.
Filmskolen gratulerer alle deltakere!
Hazhir Ibrahimi ble tildelt hovedprisen med pitch av dokumentarfilmprosjektet "Kolbar".
Juryen begrunnet avgjørelsen slik:
"The main prize goes to a film, with a strong cinematic ambition. It will take us on a ride out of the privileged comfort zone, and give voice to those who no one listens to.
In the cold mountains on the border of Iraq, children have to grow up fast. Not many options are left for them. [...] A slice of life that is invisible but relevant to us in the Nordic countries, as we are multicultural societies. The creator has a clear message to the world: It is not until you have a place in the media, that you have a place in society.
We are sure that the director Hazhir Ibrahimi with the film KOLBAR can bring us a heart wrecking and hopeful story from the snowy mountains, where he himself spent his childhood."
Emil Wahl og Kerren Lumer-Klabbers ble tildelt special mention med pitch av prosjektet "Woman Walking".
"The special mention goes to a pan-Nordic team that that struck us as dynamic and with a creative energy between them. It is a project where an absurd event let’s us see behind the curtain of a dysfunctional family. [...] the unique mix of absurdity and psychological realism together with the craftmanship that they both have shown in their graduation film was so intriguing that the jury has decided to give the special nomination to Kerren Lumer-Klabbers and Emil Wahl for the project WOMAN WALKING."
